In 2009 Capt. Rich Milligan connected with Capt. Bob Baptista and Dennis DeCarney and held an informal meeting at the Orient Heights Yacht Club to research the idea of having a local Boston area captains association. The attendance was overwhelming with 40 captains showing an interest in creating a NEW organization.
As a result, “The New England Charter Boat Association” was formed as a non-profit orginization. Our membership continues to grow. We are committed to be an inclusive Captains Association and not just a fishing club. Sailors, excursion captains, dive masters, and fishing of all types are encouraged to join. Bait shops, marine supplies, marinas, dive shops are welcomed to link to our web site with a reciprocal link to their sites.
Mission: To bring together charter boat captains and those in the maritime industry for the mutual exchange of information, to gain knowledge of current and future regulations, to provide education pertinent to the passenger for hire industry, to gain social benefits with regular meetings and community activities, to help inspire the next generation of stewards with a love of the sea.
The association sponsors information sessions to educate and update members on developments in the maritime industry. As well, for our charitable goals, we create and participate in community events to educate and mentor our youth; exposing them to responsible boating, fishing, and our most important resource, the ocean.
Our members are expected to be professional, responsible, and respectful to the organizations and people we engage. Our meetings are held at the Orient Heights Yacht Club on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:30pm. New members are welcome to join us at the next meeting.
Best regards and safe boating!
