History of the New England Charter Boat Association
My name is Capt. Rich Milligan and I have been providing boat chartering services for the past several years. During this timeframe I also served as a President of a local captians’ association.
This year, 2009, I connected with Capt. Bob Baptista and Dennis DeCarney and held an informal meeting at the Orient Heights Yacht Club to research the idea of having a local Boston area captains’ association. The attendance was overwhelming with 40 captains showing an interest in creating a NEW organization.
As a result, “The New England Charter Boat Association” was formed. Our non-profit applications have been submitted to the IRS and MDOR. Our web site is live and our membership while small and growing, is strong. We are committed to be an inclusive Captains’ Association and not just a fishing club. Sailors, excursion captains, dive masters, and fishing of all types from Boston are encouraged to join. Bait shops, marine supplies, marinas, dive shops are welcomed to link to our web site with a reciprocal link to their sites.
Our meetings are held at the Orient Heights Yacht Club on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:30pm. Our next meeting will be November 17 at 7:30pm at the Orient Heights Yacht Club. Please join us and contact us via our website CONTACT tab. Provide your name, phone number and email address and we will be sure to contact you.
Best regards and safe boating,
Capt Rich Milligan and the New England Charter Boat Association
